Looking to expand beyond my current crop of Virginia's - so what's the allure with oriental? Any must-try blends? How heavily do they ghost in a pipe?

Robert McConnell's Oriental. It's an unusual Balkan blend with little or no Virginia, burley or latakia. I haven't noticed it ghosting any of my pipes.

    GL Pease Quiet Nights

These are the ones that I keep on hand.

I hear a lot of good buzz on the McClelland Grand Orientals, there are 7 of them in the series.

Gotta love Presby. It just seems to have a little something extra that all the other English and Balkan blends don't have. That something extra is what the Brits call "creaminess." That term doesn't quite describe it but I can't find a better term. Whatever it is, it sets Presby above the rest of the blends.

In addition to the excellent suggestions so far...

    C&D Oriental Silk
    Germain's Special Latakia Flake
    H&H Sweet and Savory
    McClelland #14
    GL Pease Cairo

The current incarnation of Presbyterian is so faint and thin it's just a shame. So I un-recommend that.

Better in that category: Legends from McClelland. It's what Presby used to be.

Jubilee from McClelland is pretty neat too.

Red Rapparee from Rattray's and the McConnel as mentioned above.

And that hotty on the State Farm commerical. Talk about a MILF! (Did I say that... guess you can take the man out of the Navy, but never the Fleety out of the man. That's what I get for focusing on Lucy Lu).

I'd also add Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader, Stokkebye English Oriental Supreme, and GL Pease Cairo.

I concur with a lot of the above and would like to add McClellands Drama, Samsun and Smyrna. The Yenidje Supreme is pretty good, too. No latakia in any of these.

I need to order more as well, we should have talked, and bulked up. And yes, you'll get it when you get it. I'm mostly convinced that's part of Maxim's schtick.
