Looking for reputable pipe websites. Price isn't a huge concern, as long as the quality is there. Also, any recommended brands I could buy locally.

I second VikingClubPipes.com Nathan is a PSF member here and usually posts when he adds an update to the site. He gets lots of great estate pipes in all price ranges. His pipes are always in good shape and his descriptions of them are accurate. Plenty of photos. He ships really fast and gives a discount to PSF members.

All of the above are great places. Smokingpipes does a wonderful job with their phtography. Also Nathan at VikingClub Pipes---great guy and although I have only purchased one from him--I would do business with him again.
    Also:
BriarBlues, PulversBriar, and Smokers Haven, Iwanries, mkelawpipes are some more to check out.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you smoke regularly? I really have no knowledge about trustworthy brands, or what types of tobacco go well with which pipes.

Hello Chris, nice to have you here. I listened to an interview with Marty Pulvers recently (he's a pipe man in his 70's who used to own a shop in San Francisco) and he said that when a newer or potential pipe smoker would ask him this question, it was a tough one. The reason is that new pipe guys are convinced it's a matter of getting the right pipe, when it's really about figuring out what tobaccos you enjoy, in general, first.

He would always set them up with an aromatic, a Virginia or VaPer, and an English Blend and tell them to go sample all 3 a few times to get an idea. Then whichever they liked, he would encourage them to try some other tobaccos in a similar vein, before investing in a lot of pipes.

In general terms, there are WAY more tobaccos that will taste like crap to you, no matter what pipe you smoke them in, than there are pipes that make just about any tobacco a magic smoke.

Would there be anyone I could sample those kinds of tobaccos from? I have been looking for different kinds, but I am very limited in my area.

Buying 2 oz. tins are a good way to sample for about $10 a tin. If you really hate a tobacco after the first try, you can probably trade with someone for something else. Some of the mentioned sites have "House Blends" that they sell variety samplers of.
