I am a fan of Sutliffs R-Blend; a Revelation match. Soon, however, I will be in the position to need some more. There are several Revelation matches out there, and I was looking for personal reviews of the various ones. Other than R-Blend, I know of C&D's Epiphany, as well as Altadis' Revelation Match. Are there any others? Do the ones available vary much?

Its not that I am looking for an exact clone, or anything, I am just wondering if the other matches available are equally as good, or perhaps even more so...

So what Revelation matches have you tried?...

I've been smoking and enjoying quite a bit of Painter Hills from 4Noggins which is supposed to resemble Revelation. Southbound suggested that I try C&D Epiphany #068, a tin of which arrived today. Will start alternating bowls of these two shortly.

I have two tines of the HoW version, the original so to speak, (well almost).

I love the stuff, maybe I should try the matches to see...

R-blend is a very good blend. Nice flavor and smooth.

Comparing with some of the others would be good if you get a chance. I'm looking forward to smoking the 2 that I've got now.

    Old Codger,

Maybe I could do a comparison of the original VS. match blends for fellow PSF'ers sake?

If this of interest to some people, then let me know.

I have some other OOP blends (Balkan SObranie, Bengal Slices, ERR, Durbar) that I could do the same for so maybe people can get as close as they can to the originals.

Not sure if this would be suitable for the forum, but if so, I am more than happy to take on the challenge.

Coda's thread, so his call. My 2 cents: the more the merrier.

    Then I'll do it.

I believe the blends I have that there are "matches" to are the following.

    Bengal Slices
    Edgeworth RR
    HoW Revelation
    Balkan Sobranie original
    Dunhill Durbar (match available?)
Mcconell era Old london Pebble CUt (1980)
    Ashton old dog (1990)

Off the top of my head, those are some in my cellar that people have shown interest in that I know of

Any comparison between a match and the tobacco that the match is supposed to resemble is an interest to me...

On the first bowl of Epiphany in a new cob. Not bad considering all the weird tastes and smells that come out of a new cob. I have a cob dedicated to Painter Hills so it should make comparing the two easier when this new cob is broken in.
