A while back Rekamepip generously sent me an early RockCob and I love it (as my reviews here will attest). It smoked great right out of the gate, and has only gotten better with use. Seriously, they're awesome and you should get one.

But mine had a straight reed bit and I'm a stem-queen.
I like fancy shiny stems on cobs, even on rock-cobs, so I warned him long ago that I would probably massacre his good work and add some stupid stem.

    And I did.

All I did was redrill it to change the stem angle and to fit an MM shank (which was tapered accordingly). Then I slapped a Forever Stem on it. Easy breezy, and now I can chomp on it.

Thanks again Rekamepip, and sorry for sullying your ancient relic ;-)

Sure do like it. :thu: I can't really tell from the pics - is that a round pipe or more of a 4-panel pipe?

Good looking pipe Spill. Your modifications improved the overall asthetics of the pipe. Looks like a good smoker.

Absolutely gorgeous! Is the stem actually contoured where it meets the stummel or ferrule? It looks that way in the photograph. If so that's amazing! Love it!

The stem is pretty much stock from Walker Briar Works. I did do a little reshaping and rebending, but not a whole lot.

Great work Spill, I like! Kinda did the same with my early Rock Cob. Just too damned cheap to buy a Forever stem, so I made my own All Most Always stem. Great job, looks good!
