I ask Sasquatch to make a traditional briar cavalier for me, having taken a shine to long pipes of late, the request was for as long a piece of briar as he could find, and a long vulcanite stem. Got these pictures two days ago. Can’t wait to get my grubby mitts on it.

That's a great looking pipe! I wondered who was going to get that one. That's just too cool!

So, the plug on the bottom has a mortise/tenon?

I was wondering the same thing about the bottom. I don't think he's got it yet, just a pic.

I'm not sure. Sas had said something about wanting to thread the plug, I'll have to ask.

Here's the last pic so far.

    Awesome looking pipe!

Do you have to stand up to smoke it? My posture wouldn't work with it. I think the stem and the plug look great.

The bottom plug is just a mortise/tenon affair. I realized that there was no need at all to thread it, and that I was making things way harder than they needed to be.

Cavaliers are pretty difficult to carve.... that thing took a long time.

It's a good 9 inches. It'll sit on you if you sit with it.

I noticed you've got a Sas cavalier listed as your favorite pipe already! Is this the second one for you?

    Hey Sas,

The cavalier arrived today, in a word, stupendous! The fit and finish, shape and lines, as well as the overall proportions of the bowl and shank to the stem are absolutely perfect. I could hardly believe the pipe weighs just 3.10 oz, never would have guessed as it doesn’t feel that weighty between the teeth and it smokes beautifully. It truly is artistry in briar and will surely be one of my favorite pipes.

    Thanks again.
