I already a basic rustic 320 KS that smokes great so I figured I would kick it up notch with this smooth Panama series model that sports a metal rim cap, not that other one was heavy but this one weighs in a full 10 grams lighter too, no worries about charring the rim on this baby...

Nice. I love mine and if a Punto Oro Sabbiata turns up I am on it. Otherwise I think I am ok with one 320, but I like the 320 so much I think I may pick up the 315 Prince as well. These are very nice pipes for the low dough.

Well I started off with a partial bowl of Compton's Macedonia Mixture, but I lack the patience for a slow break in so next I loaded a full bowl Peter Heinrichs Special Curly. :ohyh:

Well guys, I got the Savinelli Panama 320 KS deflect blues, been going easy on the pipe as I should during the break-in period but each time I smoke I smell burning briar, tonight when I emptied the ashes and examine the bowl I found that the briar around the draught hole had turned to charcoal, quite a bit of it, so I gentle scrap out the bowl to see just how much had burned and now there is a definite indention in the bowl at the draught hole, I messaged Cup O joes about it, we shall see what they say.

Well that didn't last long, about 6 bowls and a significant portion of the bowl had turned to charcoal, I think it was a bad piece of briar, I mentioned that it was 10 grams lighter than my other 320 that didn't have a metal rim capped, low density briar I think, so it went back today, sadly this model is discontinued and I guess I bought th last one, so I had get a different pipe and spend another $120 in the process :( oh well the new pipe will be much nicer anyway :).

That is very sad. Good on Cup O Joes to work with you on getting a replacement.
