    Hi everyone,

Had lunch downtown with some co workers today and i was real close to our pipe shop so i walked in and got a tin of sg commonwealth. I hope it has a good latakia slap in the face.

Any one here like this blend?

Commonwealth is one of the Tobaccos of the Month right now.

I like it a lot. Quite mellow really; not what I would call a face-slapper.

    Enjoy!

I also like it a lot. It's half Latakia, half Virginia, so it's missing the "spicy" component from Orientals, but this makes it a smooth pleasant smoke, in my opinion, and a nice change of pace from other Latakia blends.

I bought some with the group buy for the Dec/Jan tins. It is an enjoyable smoke but not as big of a lat bomb as I expected. Smoked down to a nice white ash in my meer.

Latakia, in and of itself, is a flat and rather unremarkable tobacco. The Virginias in this this blend turn it into a winner.

I've gotten to where I don't really care for large amounts of Lat in a blend.
That said, Commonwealth is one of the exceptions that I really enjoy on occasion.

    It's a lat-bomb if you ask me - it's 50% latakia.

But... it's not an aggressive, spicy, or especially strong (nic) blend. I like it a lot. One review on tobaccoreviews I think called it a Sonata for Flute and Tuba or some such thing, and that's exactly what it is. Only two voices, but a lovely harmony. The Simon and Garfunkel of English blends perhaps. Anyway, I like it a lot and I don't talk about it much because if nobody thinks about it.... I can still buy it.

It's good, solid. A real meat and potatoes blend. It's not going to give you an epiphany, but it's a damn good smoke.
