    As it's weekend lets allow some blatant showing-off?, 360degrees of glorious straight grain!, I've never been fortunate (or affluent!) enough to own such a beast - and remain unconvinced of any advantage - apart from looks.....but they certainly look 'the business'! and I'd love to see yours!. How about some pictures.....and - no semi's....straight one side, birdseye t'other! LOL. :th1:

    I've narrowed my collection down to a few rusticated bent Italian pipes and a handful of Pony Cobs but I do have one smooth one on the way.

    Like I said Puff (pay attention!) - I've never had one, or a straight grain meer! LOL or one disguised by rustication or sandblast!:xd:

    Haven't gotten around to taking pics of my "Flames", and this thread has given me the impetus to not rush about doing so. :booty:

    I have to admit I don't really understand this straight grain thing, (I don't understand a lot of things about pipes) but does this look anything like it? I saw a virtually identical one listed as straight grain. It looked the same, and even had the same number stamped on it, but a different name to my Stanwell.

    Just spotted that this one is listed as straight grain too. Thought I recalled seeing it somewhere.

    Well Ted, I have two! Both by Tim West and both are made from Algerian briar. They are great smokers and all round wonderful pipes! Is it the grain? I dunno, but I do firmly believe the Algerian briar plays a major role.
