Thought it would be interesting to hear if folks on here ever listen to music when they smoke and what genre. If I'm in the mood to sit back with some tunes and a pipe 99% of the time go to my usual listening music: American folk or jazz.

Folk music helps me to think of the world we live in and brings my mind back to a time in history that I find fascinating. Jazz helps me to mellow out, slowly savor the smoke, and feel the music. Folk for the day time and jazz for those late nights.

    How about you?

I find I really like contemplative music that can kind of fade into the backyard when i'm having a pipe. Bach or other Baroque composers are perfect. Also Jazz, especially Monk and other composers where you can really bob your head to.

Also, bluegrass and folk and old country....

Smoking, surfing the net, and listening to some alternative this evening. I listen to all types of music, depending on the mood. Up now- The Shins Simple Song, The Black Keys Lonely Boy, Of Monsters & Men Little Talks, Wolf Gang The King and All His Men, and We Were Promised Jet Packs Its Thunder and Lightning.

When I smoke a pipe I'm usually listening to classic rock or celtic rock/punk. When I'm smoking cigarettes, I'm usually listening to metal. When I do a lot of snuff, I listen to punk, hardcore and death metal. When I smoke cigars, I'm watching sci-fi shows on the internet and listening to the cat cough.

Always listening to music when at home, so always listening while smoking. Two favorite genres are avant-garde (free) jazz and dark ambient, but I also listen to a lot of rock, blues, classical et al. Listening to the Luther Thomas 4tet give their crazy take on Sonny Rollins "St Thomas". Lots of fun!

I love classic Jazz. 50's-60's era. I like listening to it and having a pipe on my way home from work. Only the taxis are on the streets. Very peaceful and lonesome. And I'm digging that.

Reminds me a lot of Nicholas Altobelli and Alexi Murdoch. Both are on youtube, you should give 'em a listen.

Wow! Quite a large range of different music. As a concert pianist, I listen to mostly classical or the progressive rockers, Lately I've really been digging Yes's Fky From Here album.
