That is a nice line. I'm a fan of the 320 myself.

I thought Sav. pipes can be used with or without a filter.

They can (I believe) but I've always figured a pipe designed to not have a filter will smoke better than a pipe that is designed to hold one and not have it.

They come with an adapter that goes where the filter normally would, if you want to fiddle with another part to clean.

I like the bull dog! :bing:

Sav makes 9mm pipes for the European market, sells the 6mm balsa system here (convertible). Notice that on the Savinelli web page, the Saturnia series isn't listed (for example). I have no idea what relationship their webpage has to reality these days, or whether these pipes are new, old, available, or discontinued....

 ..... If you dont like their filters [ balsa ] just dont put them in . My Savinelli Tevere came w/a pack of filters . There was also a filter in the pipe already .. I smoked it for a little bit and then took it out [ I know , not supposed to do that ] and the cool thing was I couldnt tell the difference in draw either way . I put it back in and it was fine . The guys in Europe dont seem to mind a filter and being an American , I had the same opinion as you . I look at it like this .. so long as it dosent make the smoking of a pipe a drag or change the flavor in a negative way ... it aint hurting . I mainly smoke without filters but I wont smoke SWR in a cob without one anymore . For some blends I'm finding them to be a good thing . To me , there's no better way to smoke SWR than in a cob with a filter . I've smoked SWR for a long time in every thing there is over the years and in a MM Legend with filter is , by far , the best . I think it just depends . I also smoke my Grabows with filters

I currently have three Sav's that are filtered; the only drawback I find in not employing the filter is I personally find it opens the draw way too much which results in my tobacco smoking hot.

I use the Balsa filters with no issues. But YMVV.
