I'd like to put together together a chart that contains all the blends, and their popularity, that are recommended by the PSF members. It can be used as a quick reference guide for people looking to try new things (like myself).

    What i need from PSF:
post w/ your top 3 to 5 tobacco blends. please include brand and blend name. These can be your go-to blends/favorites/recommended/etc. even after you initial post, if you find a new blend that knocked your socks off then feel free to add it as well.

Approximately every Saturday, i'll tally up the recommendations, update the chart and reattach it to the top post (this one).

Below is a template of what the chart will look like. i'll edit the appearance as necessary.

    thanks!

Breaking the blends down into categories may make this a little easier. Such as Favorite OTC, Favorite English Blend, Favorite Flake...etc...

thats a good idea as long as people are willing to add that info to their posts. I can start with "Carter Hall (OTC)" and as it grows i can break it down.

so what would we need? OTC, English, Balkan, Aromatic, what else?

    Agreed .

    It's a good Idea Idiotbox .

I'd add a genre of " Newbie / easy " blends ..... Blends that are easy to light and keep lit ... being thats what most guys have the biggest trouble with at first

Being that I'm a newbie, I guess I'll add to this category. My 3 most smoked blends are Carter Hall (great for breaking in pipes I found...it builds a cake pretty quickly), Sugar Barrel, and last, but not least Captain Black White.

I suspect if everyone answered, you'll have a chart with a boatload of single recommendations. The highest multiple recommendations would likely mimic TR's highly rated/highly reviewed blends. (Just practicing my soothsaying here).

    Recommended first Latakia blend...Frog Morton(McClelland).
    Benchmark English...Penzance(Esoterica).
    Budget English...Balkan Supreme (P. Stokkbye).

    Recommended first VA...5100 Red Cake(McClelland).
    Benchmark VA...Dunhill Flake.
    Budget VA...VA Flake (Iwan Reis).

I could yammer on...vapers, Lakelands, etc.

If you just want favorites...well, that list is too long for me to pare down into just a few!

I've often wished there was a single place where everyone's suggestions could be found. This will be hard to manage I'll bet, but it's a great idea!
