I found a loose pack works best. The extra air helps combustion. Once you find the sweet spot it'll burn to the bottom without relights.

I've settled on a small-to-medium bowl for Plumcake, simply because it burns slow and gives me the desired duration.

And 125 %#%^#* pages of reading that I assigned my students for tomorrow. (I'd better read it too, eh?)

Just went on an unsuccessful search for a boxed pouch of Carter Hall. I was so close! This Discount Tobacco store right down the street from me carries only the 14oz tubs, and they had a few. That was the first place I've found it. The actual pipe shops don't carry any "OTC" tobaccos!
I was however surprised to find the Discount Tobacco carries all the Borkum Riff, PA, Sutliff Private stock, and some Smoker's Pride.
Anyway, I walked away with a pouch of Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey, and I'm packing it into my Legend.
Disappointed I couldn't find a pouch of Carter Hall. I just couldn't risk buying a 14oz tub having never tried it.

If any of you guys need a pouch of the regular OTC's, just email me, I'll pick one up for you and ship it - for cost, of course, I'm no giver.

I think you've got the right idea, WM.

I've never been one for political action. But rumor has it that businesses over here (particularly the food industry) are extremely responsive to consumer desires. They'll move heaven and earth to supply the goods to get those greenbacks from the punters.

But the problem I've seen over here is that nobody complains or grouses, and so businesses are going to do exactly NOTHING in response. They're just as lazy as the rest of us.

Good luck with that Wicker Latakia! It'd be interesting to hear what kind of materials you plan on burning to cure it. More secrets of the guild perhaps.

I really do appreciate the offer, but that would really be no different than me ordering a pouch or two online. I was just bummed I couldn't find it at a tobacco store, CVS, Walgreens, gas station, etc.

Nah, at least a dozen times. Darn heatwave. +8C(46F)H24% right now, had to turn the AC on in the car.

Weybridge in a Peterson 80s. Crushed ice over a teabag. I've got my eye on a tin of Grousemoor but don't think I'll succumb to temptation for now.

    What!
    Such words uttered on a public forum are blasphemous indeed BigJ. Everyone knows that G&H Louisiana Perique Flake blows SJF outta da water (-;

G&H BB #2 happily smoldering away in my Cherry Cob right now.
Yes John, this has become a work pipe. Lives in the truck for the most part and seems to enjoy it's new home (-:

True enough, although I'm buying on a tax free reservation. Either way, if you guys can't get the stuff, I'm game.

That was so good, I'm doing it all over again. Another big bowl of Classic Burley Kake in the Rekamepip Maplewood Tankard.

P120 - did you try grocery stores? That's where I buy my CH.

I may very well venture out to one of the other Low Bob's Tobacco places or get my pipe shop to order the boxed pouches. If all else fails, I'm going to be throwing CH and SWR in with my next smokingpipes order.

@dbear: I actually did not even think to check Kroger's which was right next to Walgreens. May stop there tomorrow.
