Just received 3 tins in the mail - Fusileir's Ration, Magnum Opus, and Cerebus - all from Hearth and Home - i am new to these type tobaccos and my first impression was that the FR and Cerebus smelled like smoked ass and feet - the Opus Magnum was gentler. Then I lit 'em up! Wow! I don't have the vocabulary to describe what it was like but suffice to say - Me Likey! The FR was thick and oily and even though i tried it first, i can still taste it (i think it has alot of Latakia) - it was quite good. I tried the Cerebus second and didn't really appreciate it until it built a head of steam and burned down to about half the bowl - nice and not as strong as the FR. Third came the MO. This was the most "multi-leveled" of the three and i could detect several different flavors - I don't know which i will like most but i think i like them all better than the cavendish based one i was smoking.

I welcome any comments as I am relatively new to the pipe and very new to these tobaccos and others like them - i may have only tried 2 or 3 "mild" tobaccos until now. Anybody try these three?

The worst went south of us - mostly we just got an afternoon sprinkle after the steady all-afternoon and evening rain yesterday. Upper 70s here with near-rain humidity levels as the town gets ready for the annual festival kicking off tomorrow evening and the county to the north starts their annual fair.

This morning's smoke while waiting the chicks' antics was MacB Roll Cake in a MM Legend.

Hubby and I finished up the 9ft x 6ft x 6ft coop, so he finally got his "surprise" when I came back from the neighbor's with a red rooster in my arms and the neighbor behind me carrying two red laying hens. I believe the appropriate word for this evening would be, "flabbergasted," as hubby was thinking I'd get him an air compressor for his workshop instead of an alarm he cannot hit the snooze button on.

The rain is supposed to be moving out of the AO tonight, with beautiful postcard-perfect Florida weather for the weekend activities.

    Good Afternoon,

Just a beautiful day in the valley. 50F and more of the wind that I disliked so much when the temperature was 20F. The wind is a big help in drying the yard out, I see a big difference already.

Smoking some Rum Flake in this Radice.

Bob's Chocolate Flake (thanks to Mark Dawson!) in the big Sav. This time just folded and stuffed into the pipe. Seems like the flavors are more separated and distinct in the flake form than last night when I rubbed it out. Very tasty!

Dark Flake Scented in the Oscar Dry Dublin.

Cube cut...cause it makes the pipe smoke better.and I need to practice on this pipe. We might even get to the bottom on this bowl. Looms good so far!
