Just polished off an outrageously strong cup of coffee, so it's time to move on to some Newminster Superior Round Slices in a Cavicchi Author ...

This was my first Cavicchi, a rusticated 1C that cost $75 new when I purchased it years ago. The wide shallow bowl is just about perfect for flakes and compressed tobacco. I've sprung for more expensive pipes in my lifetime, but frankly it's hard to top this Cavicchi for delivering a first rate smoke.

Pipe smoking is a highly individual thing. I certainly don't criticize anyone for peeling out a fortune for high grades: more power to you if you can afford it! But it pleases me to no end that the best possible smoke can be obtained for a modest outlay of cash.

And speaking of deals, the Round Slices are unbelievable: very similar to Mac Baren Dark Twist and Stockton in quality, but at a fraction of the price. And yes, those inlays are dark-fired Kentucky, sweetened and mellowed with a bit of maple sugar. Satisfying and absolutely delicious.

Starting the day with my first bowl ever of Sugar Barrel. Noticed the sugar on the first puff. Went well with the cuppa of Darjeeling tea.

Play Ball! Heading downtown for the Tigers home opener. Loaded up with OGS and Dunhill navy rolls as well as a few cigars. Going to be a long day of smoking and bar hopping. Wish me luck!

Essence of Vermont in a MM Legend. It's been warm while I was away, most of the snow melted. Cloudy, so can't see the rocks this morning. +2C(36F)H83%

LMAO! I always have 3 lighters and one pack of strike on box wooden matches with 2 tampers at all times, I hardly ever need to check
for those, will either be the Zippo with Thunderbird insert in a leather case, the Caran d'Ache in a leather case that also houses a tamper and packet of flints, and either the Dunhill Rollagas in the Dunhill sock which carries a tamper or the Old Boy and a tamper in my pocket.
Saw our first red winged black bird today, spring is nigh Downeast...........

A sunny Spring day, garden bench, Savinelli Roma Lucite, and some C&D Epiphany. A great combination. Very nice indeed. :)
