Got my first set of progressives last year--absolutely hated them at first. But, after a week of getting used to them, they are great. I do have to do the tilt-head-down thing to go downstairs, though. They sure make reading small print much easier. It sucks to get old!

    Afternoon all! Had first
    interview with an insurance
    company. I really don't
    wanna sell, but nothing
    else has presented
    itself. :(
    Had a Genoa bowl of
    GG for the drive home.
    Now out back with a
    little tipple. For those of
    you going GF, try Widmer's
    Omission Pale Ale. A very
    nice ale that doesn't taste
like :poop: like all the other
    GF beers do.
    Still haven't decided what's
    Going in the next bowl.

MacBaren Club Blend in a DGE cob. Crushed ice over a chunk of lemon. Looking forward to this at the local airport back east. 17C(63F)H72%

Suzy and Molly greeted me with happy meows, and I greeted them with tuna and whitefish. I'm smoking Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 1980s smooth slight bend Wally Frank Dublin. A can of Mountain Dew is my drink. Looks like Stormy's sent his herald ahead of him because the sky is dark and gray. If it were balding, too, I'd think my Uncle was visiting.

Louisiana Red in a GBD -- the last bowl before it goes off to Walker Briar Works. Bought this sweet little pipe in 1968 and it was my first "nice" pipe. About five years later had the bit replaced at Victory Pipe Shop. The original bit had a gentle curve or arc to it and I liked the look. It is possible this one couldn't be curved because it is one of those fantail bits. At any rate it has had a straight bit since sometime in the 70s and now it is time to get right.

Since I need to send in a Peterson billiard that belonged to my dad, and a Savinelli lumberman that needs a new bit, I decided it was time to get this GBD the lines it had when I first bought it.

It´s a nice, calm and sunny evening. Sitting on my balcony, reading and listening to music while smoking my current favourite (MB Virginia No 1) in my favourite cob (a MM Legend straight). Waiting for the soccer game (Elfsborg vs Celtic) to begin on the telly. Life could be a lot worse.

Now smoking the last of this tin of Old Dark Fired in a smooth briar calabash shape 1984 Fero Danese made in Italy. It'll be a while, but I'll revisit this blend sometime in the future. Nice smooth smoke at a good price. Listening to MLB talk on the XM.

    Congrats Mr Mayor.

I'm taking care of all the last minute stuff that always comes home to roost when I decide to go away. Fortunately this excellent bowl of 1792 in a medium IMP meerschaum is keeping me calm. Crushed ice over a chunk of lemon. 20C(68F)H57%

Wow, codgerdom abounds round here! Back from the VA, made lunch which consisted of fresh cucumbers quartered and sliced, fresh tomatoes and basil all from the garden, purple onion diced, black olives, perfectly seasoned then coated with extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar, tossed and served with a baguette quartered. Had a nice smoke of H&C/965 in the MM Diplomat with blue and white Forever Stem.
