My meer-lined briar forms cake if I just look at it funny. I have to be ever watchful to make sure doesn't form a cake. My rock cob though, repels cake. Even in the month of Rocktober, when I smoked it every day, no cake. I assume this is due to properties of the stone itself. Maybe an enchantment by the maker? :msty:

Thanks to JPBerg I'm now lighting up a bowl of Penzance in the no name squashed tomato, hot, sweet English Breakfast tea on the side.

I'm trying to temper my excitement for finally trying this blend. I don't want a Dark Knight Rises sized let down.

    Well, here goes.

I posted this back in May :) on a visit to Todmorden junk market :-
It’s very rare to see any pipes but spotted what I knew was a Meerschaum from two tables away, the stall holder didn’t it was just a brown (wood ? ) pipe to them, the stem wasn’t chewed and was a perfect fit, looked like a smear of Vaseline had been applied, which is what I use on my Baronite ceramic pipe cork stem joints,

it must have been smoked allot to get this colour which was also evident from the cake build up

I bought it without haggling and went out and sat on a bench in the sun passed a pipe cleaner down and it came out perfectly clean and dry, so giving the mouth piece a spit and a wipe with a hanky. I loaded it up with Wicker mix, and lit up, what a great smoker, cool dry
I detected No Ghosts ! in fact I had another bowl as we walked by the canal, but could barely tamp with my little finger, so had a de-coke session with the Rodgers knife, what a difference I can tamp with my thumb now, so a far longer smoke
    [IMG]

I’ve had a couple of bowls today and for $7.50 I don’t think I was robbed

I've smoked it loads since and de-coked it a couple of times, but no way did it build up like it was at first

Frosty morning here in my part of Texas. Smoking a bowl of Squadron Leader in an old Digby estate pipe. Love this little pipe. Always can depend on a good smoke with this one. Hump day already. Still trying to wake up with my second cup of coffee blonde and sweet. Have a productive day!!

I remember you posting this! What a great find! I think meerschaum builds cake faster than just about any other material, if you let it.

Ready for the movers to come in the morning. And only had one argument with my wife, so we're doing pretty good!

Now it's time for Capstan Blue in a Savinelli Linea Piu bent billiard, with some hot earl grey tea. And Uggs, it's freezing outside!

Good morning! Annie Kake in a Dr. G bent bulldog with hot, black Community Coffee. 37*F in Florida's capital city this morning. Getting in a tropical Island frame of mind.

    Good Morning,
For this cold, icey, morning's drive into work I had Peter Heinrich's Dark Strong in a Ferndown 3* Bark Dublin with a Cumberland Stem and Silver band. Black Ethiopian Amaro Natural coffee to open my eyes and keep me warm.

    Happy Smoking,
    Paul

Brrr! Cold here on the Lake this morning!

Just in from a bowl of GLP Charing Cross in a Peterson bet bulldog with coffee.

Late last night I wrapped up all the work for this book I'll need to do until after Christmas, so I can slow down a bit and actually enjoy the season for a change!

    Thanks, LuckyDuck and WalkinStick
for the well wishes! Feeling much
better today. As it's my first 'official'
day off this week, I'll be lighting
many pipes today. Think I'll start off
with some CH just to get things
rolling. After that, the last Capstan
blue flake from Jan. 2011 in a
    meer bowl.
