Nice lil' temp drop this evening in my part of Texas. Dropped from 77 degrees to 52 with the wind kicking up a bit. Glad to be back in winter mode. Chilaxing with a nice bowl of Exhausted Rooster in a square shanked straight stemmed Digby. (Open that tin Chris! ;)) Nothing fancy but one dependable smoker. Jim has me wanting Stonehaven next but it takes a good bit of drying time. Maybe I'll just empty the jar and get out the broken shag flakes from the bottom. Stay warm and safe my friends. It's getting wintery again....

You can blame Berg for the Penzance. Psquared hooked me, Berg sent me a tin from '09, then I hunted until I found 3 more from '09. That stuff is just too damn hard to get hold of anymore.

    Berg's law and all that.

Been smoking some Briar Fox in a Falcon tonight. Cold Coke Zero is my choice of drink. Freezing rain right now, then several days of snow. Think it's time to pile on the quilts!

Thank you for saying this. There are so many cautions about pipe care all over the internet, you'd think pipes were frail little trinkets that should never really be used or enjoyed. It's good to see a more real perspective voiced every now and then. :thu:

95percent grain alcohol does wonders cleaning pipes. Helps to heat it a bit (carefully) in the micro before use.

Last pipe of the day is the Rockin' Black Rock Cob etc. etc. filled with the last of the prepared Luxury Bullseye Flake, will need to prep more this weekend. I've done enough damage tonight ( a peek in the latest purchase thread proves that ) so I thought I'd say Adios to the fine folks here in PSF Land and wrap my head around Tuesdays with Morrie, another book as is my standard for ivIG Day. See you in 3 or so...........

getting my little black walnut pipe broke in
the last couple bowls - the woody flavor is slowing down now that i got the chamber a little charred
and the essence of this pipe started screaming out PERIQUE

So I am smoking my 1st bowl of MB hh Acadian Perique
and must say that the Black Walnut compliments this tobac just fine

M'lady cooked another wonderful dinner that can't be beat, and thanks to DBear, I'm following it by smoking Peretti's Scottish Flake in a 1970s smooth medium bend Stanwell Rego 969-48 Design Choice 837 sitter with a vulcanite stem and ferrule. A bottle of Pepsi made with pure cane sugar is my drink.

That is a great book written by a great guy. Mitch Albom was doing a fundraiser today on the radio all day today to help the poor in Detroit. He does It every year. Last year he raised $150k I believe. It was pretty cool all the celebs that called in offering funds and donating things to be auctioned off. He hosted another event a few weeks back to help race relations in the city. He is a fine ambassador of our area and is very giving of his time and energy to help out around here. His new book first phone call from heaven will be out soon if it isn't already. I plan on getting a copy of that one as well.

Been too busy to puff today, which is practically unheard of, but am now mitigating.

Uhle's Perfection Plug in a DGE Country Gent as an appetizer.

And GLPease Westminister in a GBD New Standard Bulldog as an entree.

I'll dig out a cigar next.
