I wrote a reply but it didn't seen to take. Long story short, it is very good. The flavoring is subtle but the blend is very flavorful.

    Good Morning,

Rum Flake, in a Doug Erwin cob. Warmer this morning, 15F, and less wind.

I'm glad you took it as it was intended. I think, particularly with Ten Russians, it's more a matter of melding than mellowing. There are a few blends (TR and McClelland Oriental #14 come to mind) that are not that good right out of the gate as they are after a couple weeks of being exposed to atmosphere.
I couldn't give you any scientific particulars, it just is what it is.

Trouble sleeping, so, thought I'd try my new "yard pipe" I got from a trade to jgWatson on something easy this morning. Loaded up some Fusilier's Ration and made a fresh pot of coffee. Dang lil sucker smokes good! Think I'll work on the finish a little and see what happens!

Starting the day with Burley, Westy and Coffee. I'm staying home from work today with this stomach thing going around. At least I can still smoke. Storms acomin'. Looks like three or four days of rain and thunder. Great weather for pipe smoking in the Florida Room watching it rain. I got a new to me Westbrook Rhodesian in the mail yesterday (Thanks DocB) and I am expecting McC's #24 & #25 on the Brown Truck today. I will load one or the other in the Rhodie for it's maiden voyage.
