I got a couple boxes of those inserts, too. Smoked a new one today (with the ceramic/plaster bottom) and pushed my pipe tool straight through the bottom. Seems they get a bit soggy. Nothing I can't fix with a bit of pipe mud though.
I really love how an Aristocob smokes. I puff a pipe like a crackhead on the first of the month and I still get a clean cool smoke from it.
You just sold me on getting this pipe..
