Pretty new to pipe smoking and new to the forum. Just finished a bowl of Lane 1-Q out of my new MM Diplomat. Still working on breaking it in but that really was a sublime smoke. I packed the 1-Q a few hours before smoking and I think letting it dry out a bit really helped it!

Hearty hello from pouring Cape Town..
Last night saw me with a little briar prince who held his Cherry Cavendish very well.. then it moved to a DGT'd billiard fella named Angelo who held some McBaren Navy Flake for me.. thank you Mister Moo.. then i thought it was my bed calling to me, but it turned out to be Mister Cob asking if we could savour some Carter Hall together.. thanks to you Artistk..
And so it was that yet another evening with some good friends gave me a splendid evening last night..
    Thanks mates.. that was fun..

I knew I'd seen that somewhere before. Very definitely a cool avatar.

Finally winding down to smoking after dinner, having some Scotch Flake 2005(thanks to FishnBanjo) in the AIC, and ice tea in the BGM, just got below 80 outside, a little cooler in here, by about 15 degrees;)

H&H Classic Burley Kake in a cob~ Can't leave the burley alone....

anyone have a TYPE of blend of tobacco they'd pair with a martini? Not specific brands, etc, but a sort of ball park blend so I can pretty much figure it out on my own? I can't imagine anything going w a martini as far as pipe tobacco goes unless it's a strong Va'per or a cigar blend. Thoughts? ~I'm off to the porch~

Any suggestions, send in a PM so we don't get all off topic & anger the moderator gods, lol~

About four months or so ago, JpBerg gifted me a sample of this next tobacco. I had to wait until I finished another Lakeland before I could smoke it. Even though I can still taste Best Brown #2 in this inaugural smoke, I suspect that won't last too long. G&H Rum Flake in a 2013 bent MM Missouri Pride Legend. Thanks, JP! I'll have the Saint Bernard bring you a properly chilled glass of ice water with some floaty jp icebergs.

HH Mature Virginia in a '68 Kaywoodie #82 bulldog relief grain. Not my first pipe ever, but 45 yrs and still going strong ain't bad.

Sipping some ice tea and enjoying our temporary reprieve from high temps.

I wish I had a million dollars so I could buy a thousand computers and a sledgehammer. Just sayin'.

Thanks to FishNBanjo, I'm smoking AJ's VaPer in a Sasquatch volcano. No hammer required.

It's p*ssing me off. (Not to be obvious or anything.)

No, seriously, it's not a tech issue. It's just that computers take so much tweaking and so many workarounds before they become acceptably usable. And when a new "upgrade" comes out and breaks everything (in this case, Windows 8), you've got to go through the whole process of tweaking and finding workarounds again until the computer helps you more than it just wastes your time. As a for instance, anybody know of third party software that puts slide-out widget-running side panels on Windows 8, or a way to hack the "charms" bar to turn it into something useful?

Edit: I'm really enjoying this AJ's VaPer. I think all the gifts PipeSimmo sent me have increased my liking for perique.

My final smoke before bed is Angler's Dream in a 1984 MM General cob. Ice water to drink, and listening to a little news.

Good morning folks. Brain's not working as I've barely had any sleep. As for thingumy, er smoking, I got some stuff, widgetted it into a thingy, did whatjumacallit. Somehow the words Dunhill, standard, mixture and falcon spring and uber-stiff coffee spring to mind, quite what in relation to I don't know. Tastes nice though.
