Afternoon PSF. After a working weekend last week, its a three day weekend this week. Took the day off and smoked my first ever bowl of Grousemoor in the Pietenpauw billiard. This tobacco is an odd one. A ribbon cut Virginia although if you haven't tried it the topping might catch you off guard - it is unique to say the least - sweet lemongrass is as close as I can get to it. I did have a strange experience of tingling lips early in the bowl - some quick internet searching revealed that apparently this is not unknown with this blend but I was taken by surprise and I'm not sure I view it as a positive. I will probably smoke what I have of this - its a definite change of pace, even from other SG & GH offerings. However given that there are such a significant number of excellent choices readily available from both of those blenders I see this as an infrequent smoke for me.

The best part was getting an opportunity to try out a very generous gift sent to me this week by Old Ted as a reminder of our family vacation in Yorkshire last year:

This tamper, handcrafted by Ted in between bowls of Condor, is just excellent. Thanks OT!

Back from the movies, and while waiting on the pizza, I'm smoking Dunhill Elizabethan Match in a smooth 1977 Medley (GBD second) medium bend billiard with a flat underside. It's been a long time since I smoked this pipe, but it's back in action now. A can of Hansen's Creamy Root Beer made with pure cane sugar for my drink.

I had a layer of Sugar Barrel, then Dave's aromatic, then Sugar Barrel and finally on top Dave's aromatic again in a 303 Peterson System Std pipe as I was driving to a funeral.

That Pietenpauw billiard is simply stunning. And that tamper ain't bad either!

Evening all. I'm smoking some (overly moist) FVF in an SMS meer, and cleansing the pallet with some Stone Ruination IPA. What an INCREDIBLE combination!

Happy early Father's Day to all of the fathers out there.
