MacB Navy Flake in my grandfather's Brigham VIP.
Looks like there's a Sunday Strang Party going on today. So, 677KS is your Strang dedicated pipe now?
Good morning (at least for a few more minutes) and a happy father's day to all!
Jim, I don't know how you got that tin of Edgeworth slices to last this long. Two weeks was my personal best.
Edgeworth RR'd in a Mastro, with the last cup of coffee for the morning.
Yes. I looked at the pipes uncommitted to particular blends, deciding which would give me a pure taste from the tobacco and be a clencher so I could smoke it while I work. This Savinelli has always smoked like a dream, so it was the pick. I almost went with another pipe, but I'm saving that for something unexpected, whatever that may be.
It looks like I'll DGT the Navy Flake for later today. The wind is just too annoying to allow for an enjoyable smoke.
I only smoke a bowl of it once, maybe twice a week, when my taste buds are ready for the full flavor. Two of the three pipes I dedicated to it don't have big bowls. The one that does is pitchin' a fit that it's not been used lately (it's a good pipe, too), so I may have to smoke it soon. As it is, I've managed to ration out the ES as long as I can because I can't afford a tin at current prices, and I love to smoke it. I've about an ounce left. And I thank you for your generosity every time I smoke a bowl of it. Many thanks once again.
Went out on a job Saturday morning... got to the site and was told to sit awhile because the load wasn't ready. So I pulled out the Arlington and loaded it with Half & Half and reached for my lighter and tamper... not to be found. Left them in the top drawer of my dresser. So I looked in my pipe kit... no matches or lighter or spare tamper to be found. Man-genuity kicked in... I pulled out my bugout bag and grabbed the magnifying glass and had the pipe lit in less than 30 seconds. Haaa! Take that Alzheimers!
I'm sure the shape and size of that bowl develops the flavor of Strang just perfectly.
It does. It's an apple, and those pipes have enough width to let various flavors waft in and out of a smoke. I think Strang needs a wide bowl, maybe even wider than the one I'm using. A narrow bowl is too restrictive to the full experience of this tobacco. At least, in my opinion.
Exactly. My preferred pipe for Strang is the Pete 302XL - quite similar shaped bowl. If I had a bigger pipe, I would use that one instead.
Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Dark Flake Unscented in my Jost's "Olde English Deluxe" cavalier.
Karl Kargl Special Rolle in a Danske Club 11.
I´m away for a week or so. Be well, everybody.
Afternoon everyone, McClelland St. James Woods in a Dr. Grabow Royal Duke.
Ashton Guilty Pleasure.
Happy Fathers day to all to whom it applies. Wonderful bunch of guys here, your children are very lucky
On the Bayou in the Oscar Lucite
Another bowl of Grasmere. Saw two
movies that had pipes in them today.
Moonrise Kingdom - the main kid
character smokes a cob. Now, The
Greatest Game Ever Played (golf) -
Several pipes in this one.
Sometimes it has to be sweet. McClellands VA #24 in the Polinski ROCK.
EDIT: oh - and I finish my first tin of #24 with this bowl. That means I have a free mason jar, which means I will open my next sweet VA McClelland soon - Dark Star! NICE, can't wait.
I liked the blend #24 very much, I guess I will reorder that one.
Smoking Black Lung in the Sav blobby pipe, but imagining Strang with each post you guys make. Looks like Simmo started some kind of a Strang revolution here!
Hey, Lucky & Marc - well done on posting pictures! Looking forward to seeing all you guys's pipes!
Also noticing Sid's been posting a lot of pictures the last while, too. More Pictures = More Better.
Very glad to see WickerMan today. You've been super industrious, friend! (Have you guys seen his plants?)
Happy Father's Day smoking, y'all!
The revolution has only just begun!
Good afternoon. Reiner LGF in a Dunhill. Most certainly NOT watching the U.S. Open.
And happy Father's Day to those of you who are fathers, or have fathers, or anything like that. We're having a steak dinner at my parents' house for the occasion, something that is a real rarity around here. Should be really delicious.
