So here is where things presently sit in (or more properly near) the Willamette Valley. Half and Half is burning in a Kaywoodie POY "07". If Krusty says any different it only means that one of us is misinformed. :whis:

    Or Better Yet .......

I will send you one of my pipes
you can break it in with the Penzance for me

then when you run out of tobacco - you can send the pipe back

a win win situation for me

i don't have to spend gruesome hours tending to a pipe - just to get that aged flavor
nor be disappointed with under aged tobacco

    could have had a V8

Warms my heart to hear all this positive talk about The Briary. They're my home store, and they're great people. Also, it's a real pipe shop with employees who really know about pipes, rather than just a big walk in humidor with a couple of tins of crappy pipe tobacco. If you're ever in Birmingham for some reason, you MUST go there.

Brother's birthday was today. Just had some red beans and rice (his favorite), and now having some FVF in a Blakemar lovat. Sitting outside barefoot in a T-shirt and jeans, 69F (20C), 35% RH. Might have to go to the bar tonight and have some beers to celebrate.

In all honesty I have only had 1# of it and when it came in, about 2 months ago, I was very unhappy! Not all because of the expectations because i knew about all the hype. I opened the bag and carefully slid the lil tray out and maybe 1/4 was still in flake form. All the rest was a mess of wet crumbles. Sealed it up and tried it after a week. Not bad but no taste at all. I could not even taste the lat. Week 2, a tad better. I could just taste the lat. Week 3, more lat and the "sea salt" note. 1 Month it was smokable.
It's nice, but I have maybe an ounce left and doubt that I would buy another bag. Maybe a tin at some point, but I know I have smoked better and a lot cheaper.

Park Lane's Old Church is a great Latakia blend. I think I'll have some now in a Tracy Mincer Poker.

Had to have another smoke. Wilke #622 in a Neerup. I think Ol' Limey Bastard has surpassed this one in my book, sad to say. This is still a great blend, one of the best actually, but that just goes to show you how great OLB is.

Thats just Penzance for you though. If you talk a bit loud in the general direction of the tray, the flakes fall apart.

My first ever bowl with a friend. He's smoking OGS in one of my MM Prides. I'm smoking Pirate Kake in my DGE poker. We probably both had far too many pints of local beer. It's been an awesome night. I may have converted a cig smoker.
