Enjoyed a half bowl (thank you post office) of Sugar Barrel in a cob.

......and I liked it more than Carter Hall. Sorry Doug.

Just some GH Burley & Bright
on this rainy day on the
    east coast. The climate isn't
kicking my butt, but the change
in elevation is. 5k down to sea
    level (literally).

I have smoked it fresh out of a tin, and I thought it had quite a bit of flavor then, too. Maybe some people are desensitized to some tobaccos?

Everybody let me sleep in, but were happy to see me when I got up. I am happy to start my smoke day off with the current Three Nuns tinned version in a 2003 medium bend straight grain Viggo Nielsen sitter with a Cumberland-like stem. Simply Lemonade for a drink.

To me when I had it fresh and wet, of course it had a bit of flavor but it just tastes like some wet chocolate aromatic. It was not good at all wet. After having it sit for several months it changed a bunch. I bet that 6 year old stuff is great. If I thought it just tasted like it did wet and fresh out of the tin, I would never buy, ever again.

Hhhhmmmm. That was not my experience when I opened a fresh tin. The tobacco in that tin was wet when I first opened it, but I let it dry to being lightly moist before I smoked it. Maybe that was the difference between our initial experiences? Anyway, the 6 year old stuff is great; a little more Virginia forward, I think than when it's fresh.

I may not have let it dry enough, but I did let it dry out for a bit. I tend to think all tinned tobaccos are much better after being opened several months, anyway.

To add to this though, I've just opened up my jarred up ounce that's left of my Anni Kake, and it's still not THAT good to me. It's been jarred a few months, every few weeks I open it for 10 minutes or so to breath. It's still too bland to me. I'm going to let this stuff go another 6+ months before smoking it. Since I got on the subject, the jar is open now, will close and put away in about 15 minutes. I know it's great stuff with a lot of age. Mine isn't there quite yet.

    Smoking Kickin' Chicken in briar.

I certainly agree with that! Hope your jarred stuff does well for you when you try it out later.

Nothing. Unannounced parade of house inspectors, exterminators, bank folks, and new buyers bumbling through my rental.

I will be lighting up some Uhle's 44 as soon as they leave.
