Butternut Burley in a Dr. Grabow Royalton Zulu.
SWR in the SHED cob, all afternoon.
I feel your pain, Brother dBear. I am cursed with thick billows of soft blond ringlet curls, and large baby blue eyes. I want nothing more than to sit quietly, enjoying a pensive bowl of my favorite tobacco. Instead there's incessant female attention, full of high-pitched squeals and lurching attempts to stroke my locks.
And between your Sav Herc 315 and my 316, they obviously see with their own eyes that we're swinging some serious pipe. Those poor creatures can't be blamed really: it's an animal thing. But I had to be quite firm with Penelope Cruz the other day and unfortunately sent her away crying. So I'm consoling myself with a bowl of
MB Plumcake in a Bjarne ...
I'm feeling you, brother BV. Good looks and manliness are heavy burdens to bear. What can we do but trundle on stalwartly? I'm smoking a red rock Rekamepip pipe full of LTF to lighten my load.
P.S. - I was wondering why Penny's eyes were wet when she dropped by.
Needing some Virginia, so its Laurel Heights in the Big Ben.
Stalwartly will be my key word for the day.
I need to stalwartly keep my hands off the 316 while it gets its obligatory 24-hour rest after the initial smoke. Which, by the way, was absolutely epic. It went for 2.5 hours and burned effortlessly down to the last crumb.
This pipe was designed by some sort of pipe smoking deity. The conical chamber creates a natural air pocket, and the huge capacity creates such good air flow that the pipe never goes out. The outer bowl never gets any hotter than a chilled cucumber. And the slanted chamber walls help to focus the flavor, making it richer and richer as you get further down the bowl. And not a drop of condensation either.
The initial smoke was delicious: no harshness or sourness at all from the break-in. I think they coated the walls with some sort of subtle chocolate flavor that tasted completely natural and tobacco-neutral. And the cake is already modestly underway.
The pipe is bone dry and, I'm sure, ready to smoke. Right now. But I must stalwartly refuse to jump the gun.
So I'll keep puffing on MB Plumcake in a Bjarne ...
Balken Sesieni in the meer lined briar
Finishing up a bowl of LTF in the new Sav dublin. This pipe is sweet action. I even bought one of those nifty little rubber bits all you guys have on your super fancy pipes and whatnot. Taking a picture or two in a second.

Velvet in Rock Cob while checking out the auctions at our PSF auctions
Dedicated this evenings smoke to Smitty who left for a deployment today. Smoked some EMF in my Altinok meer followed by some ASTB in my Pete Donegal Rocky. Sweet puffin' this evening.
Right now, sitting on the 'stoop' with a cob and some straight Cavendish from 'Taste of Cuba' in New Hope Pa. I like it.

(4th bowl in this pipe)
Breaking her in but good.
The book was going fine, having some minor episodes in my feet so I shifted and a grand mal episode of epic proportions had me out of bed in seconds. Grabbed a Khave, strong and black in the Pusser's Rum Mug and filled the Benner with Night Cap, it's no longer a virgin.
Smoked well......... now if I can just settle down....
I admit that I complained too much ahead of time about dinner tonight. Only three hours--coulda been worse. And they served Guiness.
More Wilshire about to be lit.
Does it have a spit valve to let the moisture out after that radical turn?
I rescued one of those! It was in the parking lot of our office one morning not moving very much. Living here on the Texas coast, I thought it was some kind of sandpiper. Spent all morning looking up rescue shelters and finally got a number and a place that would rehab it. They told me it was a woodcock and not native to this part of Texas.
That about sums up my day .... Velvet all day and then I got the bug for MB Latakia ... it was awesome !
