Well ain't that a kick in the buns! I wrote that last post nearly 45 minutes ago and when I came back from turning the coffee on I realized I had not posted it. So I went back downstairs after posting it and had a delightful mug of Khave, strong and black, in the Pusser's Rum Mug and Riccardo Santia met me with a bowl of Troost Cavendish that I did not complete last evening I put Levi's food down and went out to enjoy the bowl. Levi now sated came to the door and I let him out to wander and perform ablutions whilst I sipped both coffee and Troost, upon his return the pipe was now finished so I let him in and treated him and off to bed he trotted. I then began the second brew of Khave, black and strong, moved the offerings du jour and am now into mug number two, the rain is in stasis at the moment, thankful it's infusion day. Good morning PSFer's.

Brebbia No.9 (again...sometimes I love this stuff too much) in my meer-lined Grabow. Pipes and PS LTF are packed for todays 300 mile run. My uncle is visiting from L.A., he'll be riding along. I really don't know why, but he seems to enjoy watching me work. We have fun...anyway, good morning everyone!

I was gifted some MacBaren Cherry Choice a couple of days ago, and while it isn't a blend I normally smoke it seems pretty good. I'll be taking this off out to the pub with me this evening which should hopefully leave a better impression amongst the non-smokers than the last time I was out. (Presbyterian Mixture- who knew lats were so non-smoker unfriendly? ;))

I think the smell of others smoking Latakia is what turned me off on them and kept me away from smoking them. I admit to trying them some years ago when I was less experienced in the art of the pipe and found them not to my liking. While I still don't wish for a total lat bomb I find the presence of Latakia pleasant but don't smoke it in the car since I have other tobacco that does not leave that kind of note. Latakia Flake is one I really enjoy and will often have either it or Night Cap as an evening smoke, I do love Perique though.

It all happened quite by accident having found less than what I needed for a pipe of Anni Kake left in my pouch and almost the same in the pouch of Plum Cake so I improvised and keep both pouches at the ready at all times now and simply love how the intermingling of those two brings the sensation to a different level. Anni Kake makes a wonderful 1/3 bowl topping over many other tobacco's as well. I also found AJ's Vapers and Kendal Plug excellent toppers too, never thought stacking would be so nice of an experience and now consider other tobacco's which I may experiment with later.

Is "pastures" code word for "banks"? A pipe smoking bank robber would be pretty interesting.

1/2 bowl of AoTM under my belt in the Irving Cobb cob and the 4th mug of Khave, black and strong, now a memory. A beautiful double espresso made with freshly ground Jamaican Blue Mountain Beans set next to me as I type and will be my last good cuppa until I return from infusion's which I will prepare for shortly. The thought of the return home, a pipe and another cuppa my goal......

Well, after one smoke, I am very pleased. Draw is good. Pipe smoked very neutral with just a slight ghost of latakia, which is fine with me as I was planning on it being for English mixtures. Overall the pipe is in very good condition--couple of tiny dings but nothing major. Nice cross-cut horizontal grain on the front and back running up the shank and some birdseye on the sides of the bowl. Stem is in good shape too and original. Once I got it, I did my usual light ream and clean, and fired it up. The best way I can describe these old Barlings is that they add a slight buttery note to English mixtures. Again, there's something special about this old wood.

I choose to invoke my 5th amendment right at this time.

Good morning, KK and the Egg, black coffee. Temps have dropped, been in the high 80's the past 3 days. Indians dropped 2 to the Tigers, still .5 in front.
