Been a while since I've been here. Been weathering a storm of sorts. I've missed being on the forum. Before this gets any more drippy I've been smoking the hell out of FVF lately. So FVF it 'twas in a beautiful sandblasted James Barber Lovat I recently acquired.

    Cheers to ya!

No smoking this a.m., of course: got the kids. Just some tea. Commemorating the holiday by reading about Guadalcanal.

Yawn, I had to read pages over again as I thought I was either dreaming and everyone stayed on topic overnight or I had the wrong forum. Soooooooo I slept fitful, no Stiff Person Syndrome episodes, well none that woke me anyway. Levi and Mutha slept well also, a three way win, why that would be WWW too bad it's not the Cubs, eh. Finished the Charlie Brown pipe from last evening, as sad as that little pipe is I had the nicest smoke of AoTM in it this morning whilst sipping Khave, strong and black, in the Pusser's Rum Mug. Now it's time to refill said mug and think of my next pipe. Good morning PSFer's. :bing:

Yes, although Sam Elliott(as Brig Gen Buford) doesn't play a huge part in the movie it is one of the best character's, my favorite is Jeff Daniels ( as Col Joshua Chamberlain who later becomes Gov of the state of Maine) it was because of the troops from Maine and the the respect Chamberlain showed the soldiers of the Confederacy when they went to surrender that Pres Lincoln had the first VA in the country built outside of Augusta Maine, there are Confederate and Union canons at the main flag pole there. Oh, pure 6 y/o Anni Kake in the Anne Julie.

Bob Ross inspired people in ways he could never imagine. One of life's thoroughly unique treasures. Atom has one of the best avatars out there. It always puts me in a good mood.

And so does this Brown Flake Scented in an Astleys ...

I just smoked the Chanunpa using Red VA tobacco and performed the Ceremony of the Pipe offering tobacco to Mother Earth to the East, South, West and North, saying a prayer for those who gave their all in sacrifice on this earth and to the memory of the fellowship of the pipe. The pipe is now disassembled and put away and I will make the appropriate bags for storage of the bowl and stem, thank you John, it smoked well.

Gawith & Hoggarth Brown Flake Scented in an Astleys Liverpool ...

Morse recommended another winner here: balanced, calming, and satisfying. I prefer this to the unscented, which is excellent but somewhat plain.

I took a different tack this time by partially rubbing out a bowlful and then lamp-drying it for 5 minutes. The chamber is tall and narrow, so that works much better than fold and stuff. Burns like a dream.

It's hard to imagine a VaBur getting any better than this. But I hasten to add that I haven't yet tried Reiner LGF, which is highly praised here.

The use of burley in BFS is very skillful. There's just enough to round out the Virginia and give it some heft and good combustion. But it's difficult to actually taste or smell the burley. Instead the blend is very Virginia forward without being bright or sharp. It's a very practical smoke. Just light up and enjoy.

I know one Finnish smoker who has gone through untold pounds (tons) of the unscented version as his all-day smoke. I can understand this. If you want a tobacco that scratches all the right itches, this is probably it. But personally I favor more variety, and so will continue the search for the perfect tobacco, hoping never to reach my goal.

I'm glad somebody's using that word again. Haven't heard it since we lost Hilo Johnny.

Edited to add, Pirate Kake, in this pipe.
