It's called a burr, much like some here. :haha: Seriously pretty sure he uses that to make the cob kernel indents on the stone then when they are past their useful life tampers. Of course this is what you get for allowing a bamboo rod flinging, ex-machinist, electronics mechanic, who went on to Nuclear Engineering, then became an IM/IT Specialist, who did Gunsmithing on the side and had an FFL, on this sleepy little board. I also haven't slept yet and am on high doses of prednisone.

I'm floating right now, a 32 oz hot cocoa followed by 24 oz of strong and black. I might have to watch the entire second season of Pram Face on HULU+

Braves just beat the Giants 6-3 in the bottom of the ninth. I'm beating my nicotine need by smoking Escudo (thanks Spillproof) in a 1998 smooth three quarter bend Peterson Limerick 69. A glass of Trader Joe's Unfiltered Grape Juice for my drink. I have some box scores to read, and other life important projects - like feeding Suzy and Molly - to do.

I was going to smoke my Calabash today but my wife thought it would have clashed with my outfit, I was wearing Bimini Bay Outfitters Wet Wading Pants (zoning in on the late Jack Gartside), a Peruvian Alpaca Poncho (zoning in on The Good, The Bad and The Ugly playing Clint Eastwood) Keen Beach Shoes (zoning in on my Metal Detecting self) and a Camo Crusher Cap (zoning in on Turkey Season) which made her think the Calabash would have been a bit over the top so I just smoked the retrofitted Rock Cob instead.

Baseball's great isn't it? I love to pour over all the box scores and stats.
My Nats beat the Tigers so I had a good day :) But, with the Braves winning, the Nats are still 2 games back. Going to be a close race til the end I think.

Smoking some McClelland 5100 very slowly in a MM straight Washington. Its fun to lightly sip and savor the sweetness of 5100.
Later on I'll wrap up the night with a bowl of Carter Hall.
Have a good night everyone :puffy:

The one cat came home soaking wet with his prize of a one oz mouse for a snack.
Still working on Nightcap, not bad, reminds me of some others I have had.

    Goodnight Gracie. Pleasant dreams.

Last pipe for tonight. Weybridge in a BST Canadian. Last of the tea and then it's time to pack it in.

Sure, Ill do my best! The Pug is one of the four lines of briar pipes by Yello-Bole. I guess you could call it a nosewarmer, it's about four inches with a bowl height of 1 3/8 (if I remember correctly). The one I have is an oval-shanked billiard, but there is another shape that looks more like an apple. Every bowl of LNF I've had in it has been so great I've dedicated it to nothing else.

Decided I needed more latakia, so I'm smoking Year 2002 Squadron Leader in a 1975 smooth slight bend Tinderbox Aalborg freehand made by Nording. Drinking ice water, watching The Jack Benny Program, and reading box scores.

Listening or watching Jack, either way, its a winner!
Think I need to pack Nightcap tighter, nice fine ash, but burns pretty quick.
Going for another bowl soon at this rate.
The La Reserva was a Tinderbox as I recall, but no clue really, haven't found any info on it yet

Antenna TV shows Burns and Allen from 1-2 am., and following that is an hour of Jack Benny. I wish they'd find a way to remaster the earlier episodes, which were on Kinescope, but I guess they figure it's not worth the expense.

The last of this sample of Essence of Vermont in a smooth straight late 1970s Tinderbox Selected Grecian Briar Dublin. Probably the last smoke before bedtime, too.

Having a late night smoke, 2:30 AM here in B'ham. Decided to go ahead and try Magnum Opus, also from friend JimInks in a Savinelli (same Roma 626 as earlier). It does not surprise me that Jim is a fan of this after having tried Onyx. I taste a similarity in the softness of the Latakia. Not a lot of sharpness from the Orientals, although it is there, and the VA used for this blend is a nice one. I do believe this blend's title is justified, as it is the best Latakia mixture I've yet had from Russ O.

Good night folks. I'm sleeping in tomorrow.

Back to back bowls of MB Mixture in the Wilke Lovat ...

I'm doing this as an experiment. To see how much the quality suffers with repeated smoking. So far no problem at all.

This is the Lovat's fourth bowl in less than 24 hours. The last two bowls were within 15 minutes of each other. I simply stirred the spent ashes with the pick to soak up any remaining moisture, and let sit for 15 minutes. Emptied it, ran a pipe cleaner through, and reloaded.

So far no gurgling, staleness, or sourness. I doubt this would work with a wet smoking or goopy tobacco. But Mixture behaves just fine.
