Smoking Full Virginia Flake in a slight bend 1968 group 4S Dunhill Shell 475 cherrywood. Had a very cool talk with a fellow from Sutliff tobacco about, among other things, Edward G. Robinson pipe tobacco. When I get a few minutes, I'll post about it in the Pipe Tobacco forum.

It would never taste good enough to me to justify $38/oz, one that I really like is $60/lb and that is as bad as I have seen, but I dont get out much, and wont be buying the one I like any time soon.
But YIKES, comes to mind on your find.
It's from a b&m about 40 minutes away from me (the closest one), it's a "house blend", that the owner keeps in a lidded plastic tub that says English on the lid. He pulls it out of a closet and weighs it out when you buy it. Before I bought it he gave me a sample that was probably about 10 bowls worth and told me to be careful because it was strong. I asked if it had latikia in it and he said yup then I asked if it had perique and his response was oh yeah it has all that stuff. He sounded not very knowledgeable but I could be wrong, I don't have much experience. He just gave me that used car salesman vibe.

That's kinda why I want some folks to try it and suggest a bulk blend that's similar. I like the taste and the smoke but I do find it mild and I'm not really tasteing anything that matches the description I've read of perique. The tobacco is mostly black with a lil dark brown.[/quote]

Evening, gents. Pretty sure I fixed my "hate this job" problem. Guess I'll have to wait and see. While I'm waiting, I'll smoke some Rum flake in a cob. Ordered a bit more of this, some dark flake scented, and some 1792 last night. Psquared got me hooked on the 1792 and now I catch myself craving it sometimes.

    B***er! I'm THAT far behind
    again! Irish Slices in a
    billiard bowl.

Just an FYI, I can't take my
lathe with me, so I'll be taking
    a rest from tamper making
for a bit. Hope to buy one
down in FL as soon as I can
so I can put all these ideas to
    wood hopefully before the
holiday season is in full swing.

Sorry $38/lb not sure why I thought per ounce. I know that's a huge difference. Again I apologize for being a bone head. [Doh]

Had some shavings of Mac B Old Dark Fired. Filled my JanPipes poker with Hamborger Veermaster, then topped it off with the ODF shavings. It was a nice smoke on the way home from work.
