Glad to hear your wife came through the operation with flying colors.
Apfelwein here as well!
Just realized that I've neglected the Clalabash for some time. This just isn't on! So, for my next smoke I decided on some Bayou Morning Flake in the bash - THANKS Mr. Fish!

Well after plucking and cleaning 3 Drake Mallards and a Drake Wood Duck I Liked and Unliked Atom's post 666 times then I finished reading the rest and am enjoying a bowl of And So To Bed in the Rockin' Black Rock Cob with Black Bamboo Shank and Tortoise Forever Stem, Wake Up Blend, strong and black, in the PRM.
For all Metal Heads
Briar, metal thread, bowl base
Twin bore (calm down JPBerg)
the cake was that dry it was falling off, so gave it a gentle ream
a pipe cleaner soaked in Grant's down each bore came out clean, so we were good to go and what a cool dry smoke from a pipe weighing exactly 1oz.
Working and smoking Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed in a smooth briar calabash shape 1984 Fero Danese made in Italy. It's another beautiful fall day that I get to watch from my window. Suzy and Molly are doing that for me, too.
Wife is upstairs sleeping and enjoying some quiet to do so. I am in my truck enjoying some margate imported from Texas via rondel65 in my cavernous altinok Canadian. I smoked a tin of this early on and really enjoyed it and can't figure out why I never got any more. Oh yeah, it's never available. Thanks Ron, this one is hitting the spot rich now.
As to the weather right now, it is cold! 26 degrees with gusting wind and occasional horizontal snow flurries.
A courier just dropped off my Eltang Sailor pipe! So of course I had to take a break from work to check it out. Had a bowl of McC's 511o in the Eltang. Very nice smoker. Tiny bowl, about a 10 or 15 minute smoke, Ideal for winter, maybe, when it's too cold for a 40 minute smoke. Stem isn't ideal for clenching but that's fine. Had it with coffee.
Very winter like here on the Lake.
Smoker's Haven Cognac Blend, group 1 Dunhill, English afternoon tea, 1st snow of the season.
(this one's for you OT)
Lakeland flake in a Falcon...Side of coffee. Forgot how much of a nic punch this had. Had to sit down to finish the bowl. Excellent tobac.
Having another pipe full of JackKnife Plug while wondering what to watch next.
Haddo's Delight in the black GBD Prehistoric pot
Bayou Morning in a Falcon. Coke Zero in a can. brrrrrrr!
The EGR is a fine fine smoke, though I haven't tried it recently. My last big tin (or tub, I can't remember) was purchased a LONG time ago, maybe in the 90's. And its contents went up in smoke in record time. For an aromatic it had a ton of flavor, and the aroma was particularly good.
The rumor at the time was that grape juice was used as a flavoring or aroma enhancer. By my nose it had that classic pipey fragrance with a little something extra. The nic was also good but not too much for an all day smoke. A sociable smoke with nothing sacrificed in terms of flavor and enjoyment. I don't know if large sizes are available nowadays. But if so, I'll definitely try it again.
DGT BBF in a Sav 122 ...
Well that cuts it. I'm hopping in the car and heading to the UK. I head to Gander and a left, right?
You better get a can cozzey for that can coke. you'll get frost bite..
Does anybody know where Thuber88 & debear are????
I was wondering if that Castello gives a banana flavor to everything that's smoked in it. When I first saw you smoking it in that photo last Saturday, I thought you were eating a banana .
Just kidding, of course. That pipe is a real stunner .
Now joining Simmo with bowl of Escudo 2000 in a Maurizio Tombari Le Nuvole ... light as a cloud
DBear is ok. Just very very busy - he's been stuck in a whole ton of work. Thuber is probably trying to catch up...
