I traded my '81 four years ago for the 05 Passat I'm driving now. I still miss it. The Passat is nice enough and I like it ok but it'll never be part of the family the way the Merc was.

I'm smoking OGS in my rock cob, lots of after supper coffee

Last pipe of this evening is Capstan Blue Ready Rubbed from the Bomb Box sent from Billy Ockham yesterday smoked in the MM Cob he included as well, nice night cap.
See you fine folks in about 3 or 4, Mrs Calabash, one never knows now does one? Have a fine evening of swapping lies, piping pipes and hiding from the night crew. :xd:

Going to feed Suzy and Molly, who have very good cats today. I've been a good boy, too, of course.:p::rolleyes: Spent a little time buying Christmas presents. Yeah, I know it's early, but when good ideas come your way, well, it's sort of like fishing. The ideas float by, and if you're looking in that direction, you have a chance to catch 'em. I looked, and I caught them! So, I'm on to other things, including work, dinner, and this bowl of Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2002 IMP smooth full bend egg shaped meer.

but for some reason my pipe is not turning darker colors like dbear's pipe

glad you are already in the shopping spirit

I was thinking of leaving my wish list notes on the ice box for ya Jim
but since you have young nubiles to get your drinks you might not see them there

can i leave my suggestions on your office table
    or
would it just be easier to copy and paste my online shopping cart items and just email them you

Stonehaven in a Drac Pete 999 Fishtail. First time I folded and stuffed a flake in a long time. Nice smoke and all but I think I prefer my flakes fully rubbed. Been doing it that way for years and I guess this dog is getting old. Y'all have a good night and puff on. I'm pretty tired and don't think I have another bowl in me this evening.

Another round of Stokkebye's 4th-Generation 1957 in the smooth Cavicchi Bent Dublin ... mild, fragrant, and somewhat tasty.

One of the nicest things about smoking light aromatics is that it REALLY increases my appetite for the good stuff. So, next up, Former's Cross Grain Flake in a Charatan.

John, how do you find maple to compare to briar from a taste perspective?

Once you get wood pipes broke in or a cake started - they taste fine
Maple, Cherry and Walnut are good !

I started mine out with swabbing the inside of the bowl with a mixture of Jack Daniels Honey whiskey mixed with extra Honey
and tasted great right off the bat

Black Walnut wood is my favorite hardwood pipe
once in a while you do get a flavor essence of the wood itself and when paired with the right tobacco = home run !!!

the Missouri Meerschaum maple hardwood pipes are pretty good too if you take a little time to clean the chamber out and prep them with honey

My first ever bowl of university flake. I am relatively new to flake but am starting to get the hang of it and I am really enjoying it.

Big hit of the N in this stuff too. Wow! (And I am a nic guy at heart).

Some SG St. James Flake in the Julius Vesz Dublin (aka my 40th birthday pipe). I haven't smoked this in a while and now I'm remembering why I have so much of it in jars :D
