Ha! That's a sign if there ever was one!
smoking a bowl of burley - london blend
dr pepper on the side
Just in from a family get together west of the city. Packing the Sasieni Ruff root panelled billiard with G H and Co Balkan Mixture. Some Coca-Cola on the side.
Happy weekend everyone! Hope you're all having a nice Saturday night.
Long day today with some misadventures some misfires and some good times. We went to the Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival, but the lines were so long we ended up getting Pierogi-styled hot dogs instead. We'll make pierogies (pirohy, the Slovak way) tomorrow at home. Then we all got home after nearly running out of gas (my fault completely) to a very messy apartment. I spent several hours cleaning up and finally found a spot for the pipes so Mrs. Beefheart will stop complaining about them stinking up our bedroom. They're still in our bedroom, just tucked away in my fly-tying desk. I hope the scent doesn't cause all the trout to turn up their noses but I guess that's better than having the Missus turn up her nose at me.
I also found deep in my desk an interview with William Faulkner from the Paris Review that I'd printed in 2009 and never got around to reading. So, I finally read it and found it pretty inspiring though my work isn't really an art like his. It sort of makes me miss the more creative younger days when I did feel like writing was my art instead of my work. But in the interview, Faulkner says his famous line, " My own experience has been that the tools I need for my trade are paper, tobacco, food, and a little whiskey." I can at least identify with that. Here's a link if you're interested: http://www.theparisreview.org/interviews/4954/the-art-of-fiction-no-12-william-faulkner
So, now I'm on the balcony with a Yuengling next to me and a warm Rock Cob of Ogden's Walnut sitting in my lap as I type...feeling calm and collected at last.
Long day of yard work is now over. Sitting outside smoking some EMP in a bent semi rusticated Nording with a hot mug of tea and this old flop eared hound dog keeping watch at my feet. Happy smoking gents!
Smoking one of my last two bowls of storm front. It will surely be on my next 4nogs order. Smoking the sav Roma. after four successive rock cobs, My briars looked sad and dejected.
What a great Faulkner quote!
That's the best looking Rockcob that I've seen!
Just packed the last bowl of storm front in the bent black rockcob.
Earlier I had Penzance in my 1968 Dunhill billiard. It was a nice night.
Another Blackwoods Flake bowl in the Omega waiting outside Chili's for my son to get done night out with 30 some kids from high school.
Chili's hates these nights...
Cards lead the Red Sox 4-2 in the 8th. I'm almost finished smoking Top Shelf in a smooth straight late 1970s Tinderbox Selected Grecian Briar Dublin, and watching the game with a friend. Ice water chilled to the proper temperature with nice li'l floaty icebergs is my drink.
The pizza was excellent, Rekamepip! Too bad you didn't make it over in time. And now I'm smoking English Luxury in the Squatch Scoop and finishing off my generic cola.
Love that pipe!
I'm having some Amphora Original in a Bullit Proof Legend. I had to put on an extra layer for the balcony tonight.
H&H Larry's Blend in my new Bjarne while sitting in front of the woodstove.
4-4 tie going to the bottom of the 9th. This has been a very good baseball game. Thanks to Doctor DBear, I'm smoking Peretti's London Flake in a 2002 medium bend smooth straight grain Karl Erik freehand with a pointy bottom. More ice water to drink.
ODF in a Tao bent apple, and some Russell's Reserve
Watching classic Series game. Just finished of a pizza. CH in a cob.
Spent some quality time with the wife since the last bowl but she's off to bed. I'm smoking some Special Latakia Flake in my Nording. I love how this for me starts so creamy and then the latakia rises up not to cover the butter but just to be a side like peppery home fries with alongside some really buttery scrambled eggs. Haha, or maybe I'm just really looking forward to breakfast.
