Well I am back after a disappointing week in the woods. Only seen deer twice. The second time the deer seen me first. Never a good thing. All does and no bucks. Did make tracks on a big buck, but he is moving at night. I should be ready for him when the rut starts. I smoked a lot. I would say my smoking highlights came from tilbury, villiger after dinner and habana daydream. At least in the tree. For some reason I need a little burley in my hunting blends. Right now I am sitting in from of my garage puffing on smokers haven select mixture in my savinelli duca Carlo.

Looking pretty grainy there JP, probably should ease up on the lat blends a bit for a few days.

sorry to hear the bad luck. But hey, at least you were up a tree in the woods, and like you said, you've still got the rut! Glad you're back!

Finally has cooled off a bit after a hot day as a result of a Santa Anna front. Now out on the back patio smoking my 965 mixture in the GBD billiard which I will dedicate to English blends. I like this blend quite a lot, but the complexity of it will require more time. The flavors are a bit overwhelming for this newbie and will take time for me to be able to identify and appreciate them. The blend seems to smoke much drier and gives a pleasant fruity flavor. Berg has done it again and deserves a box of hate mail.

I had great evening out with an old college buddy who was in town for just a few hours. Great dinner, great company, and now home to resume my smoking. In this case, it's BRG Mixture in a straight sandblasted black billiard 2013 PSF POY Kaywoodie with an amber colored lucite stem. Ice tea chilled to the proper temperature with newly cut li'l icebergs is my drink.

Suzy was at the door when I came in, and immediately jumped up on me for a hug. She really doesn't like it when I go out! Well, she's getting proper attention now, so everything's all right.

MBF is one of my favorites of the Sutliff Private Stock mixtures that I've been taste testing. A burley blend with lemon Virginias and a little latakia, with a light rum topping. It's classified as an "American English" blend. Lots of different flavors to find in it. I'll be posting my latest Sutliff PS reviews on Monday, and will give more detail on this one and five other tobaccos. MBF is supposed to be a substitute for Barking Dog, but I never smoked that blend, so I can't compare them.

A's and Tigers are scoreless in the 3rd. I'm smoking Charlemagne in the very first pipe I ever bought ($2.95) in 1974; a smooth three quarter bend Dr. Grabow Omega. I'm getting back into work mode.
