I'll have to try and dig it up. My mom has a handful of old Indian bowls. I wonder if I could talk her into giving me one and fitting a stem to it.

Edit: The "dig it up" comment wasn't meant to be a pun. I'm not that clever :laff:

A couple of years back, I got a box of six clay bowls - unsmoked, (ebay) but no stems with them. They are called Viennese 'Coffee House' clays, they smoke very well indeed - especially my VA plugs and flakes, and don't get too hot like most clays. I keep experimenting with different stems, they were probably used with church wardens and short ones.

I haven't seen any the same for a while, but I usually by clays from Bewdley Pottery, reputedly the only remaining maker of clay pipes in Europe. As well as the traditional types he makes some larger ones with decent stems that can be clenched, also makes a lot for re-enactment societies, movies etc.. I don't know how to do the link thing - but there are some interesting shapes and styles on his site.

Well you've increased my pipe IQ by at least 20 points today. Aren't you glad you stuck around? Somebody's got to teach us youngsters how it's done. :byg:

Suzy and Molly were hungry, so I woke up to feed them like I'm supposed to. So, they're happy, I'm awake, and so it's not a total loss, I'm smoking A Taste of Summer in a straight 2012 MM Mizzou cob.

    here you go :-
    http://www.bewdleytown.co.uk/claypipes/
though I did get a couple of his Civil War Clays and the stem bore was tiny, too small even for a thin Falcon cleaner
and when I tried to clean with the Clay on a fire brick with a blow lamp (they used to be put into a fires embers on a shovel to clean)
the bore was that off centre there was no wall thickness and I ended up having to do a Milliput repair :- http://www.milliput.com/
    cheers Old Ted :toast:

I swear I was going to do some stuff today, but can't remember what any of it was for the life of me.

Now I'm smoking 2004 GLP Renaissance and drinking water. This is without a doubt the most relaxing tobacco I've ever smoked. The last two times I had it I fell asleep on the porch. Shooting for number three. :toast: Psquared.
