The end of a LONG day. Try getting 400 12 and 13 year olds to create/remember their Apple IDs and login to their iPads--enough to try one's patience. To be continued tomorrow--sigh!

Anywho, had some CH on the drive home, and am now enjoying some Dan Devil's Holiday in the small full-bent WDC Wellington (Thanks LegoMat!). I'm thinking perhaps some ODF after this airo-fest, then a Lat fix (probably Pirate Kake).

While I was out, the tobacco dried enough to smoke it, so it's Full Virginia Flake in a straight 1968 Dunhill Shell bulldog. A bottle of Pepsi is my drink. Now back to work.

About to light a bowl of Black Irish Twist in the Pete System 31 for the ride home. It's just a hot nasty day... Tonight I'm introducing a friend to pipe smoking. No twist for him... Probably some Frog Morton or a burley for his first dance with the pipe.

This is the pipe mecompco sent me. It's a beaut!! Loaded with FnB's Firefly Mix and listening to Haydn's Symphony No. 67. A can of Caddy Shack Peace Tea is my drink.

Telegraph Hill in a Falcon. Very iced down lemonade. Stormy came running by for a breif shower that cooled a bit. Didn't have to turn the lights off! Didn't last long so still coolish.

Just had some of the best shrimp and grits I've ever eaten. Now, belly and beer hand full, I'm headed to the porch. Let's see if I can fall asleep in my chair again.

I know that's a disappointment. No matter which bulk blend I buy, it's never quite as good as the tinned ... at least initially. But I just had a bulk batch of MB Va. No. 1 that really blossomed after jarring it up. It ended up being a tad better than the tinned. Let's hope that works out in your case too.

Another factor is the consistency of ingredients. It seems that only a few of the big blending houses like MB actually send buyers abroad to examine and secure the lots. I'm not sure if DTM can afford to do that, so there's always the risk that their next batch of perique might not be as good as the last. Tobacco blending seems like an ideal profession, but I imagine it's very stressful.

Glad you're enjoying it! Not a fancy pipe by any means, but it does smoke well. What do you think of briar vs. the cobs?
