Saw this Pete at the local B&M for sale and decided to try the old p-lip thing. My wife gave me a gift certificate to use there. I love the short length and the somewhat saddle bit like stem.

Just curious what the pipe dedicating crowd thinks of it. I was thinking it could be another english/flake pipe due to it's shorter length. Might work well for clenching and more puffing (something I'm working on slowing down) with the 'cooler' smoking english and flakes.

Any thoughts? Thanks for taking a look as well

Congrats. I have a similar pipe. Give the Old Dublin a few moments after the charring light before firing it up again. Should be a tasty combination if you draw slowly and gently.

I like the look of that pipe. Dammit, I'll have to add that to the "When I'm a big rich rockstar" list.

Thanks, Codge. My first 1/3 in the pipe was OD and tbh, it tasted a little gross. I think it was because I was smoking on a queasy, post St Patty's/b-day hang over stomach. It tasted so much like a cigar I was having the night before with some whiskey, hah

I switched over to some Penzance and I dunno if smoking crumbled flake pieces is the most traditional way to build up cake, but it sure is tasty stuff and seems to be working fine.

Not a major fan of the p-lip yet, tho. Often I feel like there is no smoke being pulled, so I inadvertently puff harder and then realize it was actually drawing fine. Perhaps it's the lack of a tactile sensation on my tongue telling my brain 'yes, smoke is coming in'

I plan to smoke with it a few more weeks and see if I get the hang of it, then decide if I want to replace it with a fishtail like I'm used to.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and taking the time to read the thread

    Cheers,
    James
