Looking for a brown flake suggestion on par with Germain's brown flake, possibly available in bulk.

Any suggestions? I see a couple of things from gawith and hoggart but i have never tried their stuff. Like "Brown Bulk Irish X" and "brown bulk hapy bogie". Are those similar things?

    Thanks in advance

No, those aren't remotely close. Try some Astleys #44, maybe some Dunhill Flake. Germains Brown is my favorite Virginia Flake, but the Astleys is close.

I can't help at all as far as bulk is concerned.

Ah I've tried dunhill flake, found it way less potent or interesting. I'll check out astleys. I didn't mention it but one aspect of germain brown that I like is the nicotine hit. I reserve it for late night reading :)

I'm glad to hear you say that about the Dunhill, my thoughts exactly. Don't say it out loud around here though, Yin and Puff will ambush you.
The Astleys is not as interesting as the BF, but it's solid.
What are your thoughts on the McClelland Virginias?

I haven't tried any yet, but I suppose I should put them on my list. I bought some 2010 christmas cheer and decided to bottle it and age it so don't want to comment on that just yet.

Rattray's Marlin Flake is "somewhat similar".

The finest brown flake that I buy in bulk, is Sammy G's 'Best Brown' .

I love Brown Bogy and Brown Irish X, I smoke them regularly. I would recommend them, but keep in mind that the Irish X is quite strong with the vitamin N.

G&H Best Brown #2. Not the same stuff but not too far off.
