A question for experienced cobaholics....Should the bowl be treated with anything (beeswax, mineral oil etc.) I've got some pretty dried out old cobs that look as if they could stand some lube. Thanx for any opinions. I refer to the outside of the bowl..:sh:

I coat the outside of my corn cobs with Bert's Bees' Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Cream and polish it with a rag after every smoke. It keeps them feeling nice and slick which I like. Carnuba wax or something similar would probably do just as well.

Shellack 1:10ish (denatured alcohol) + Carnuba wax applied with a buff.

You really shouldn't do that. You wind up having to delete you history afterwards. Not to mention that you cannot unsee something like that.

The #1 reason to never do a Google search on any phrase that includes the word "lube" in it.

Same here. Never felt the need to coat them.

I have a few vintage MM's that were starting to crumble on the outside and I sealed them with clear fingernail polish. Worked like a charm. Wife wasn't too pleased...

Well, of course - corn cobs are such an exquisite, expensive item - they need to be pampered and cosseted!
.....I reckon we are about due for someone to ask again - how many decades can be coaxed out of one! :ohyh:.
