I was watching a movie called It's a Date from 1940 on TCM the other afternoon and was
pleased to see that Walter Pidgeon was smoking a Cob. It was nice to see a sophisticated
leading man choosing this pipe. The Cob reminded me of DGErwin's 5th Avenue Lovat.

I saw Moonrise Kingdom a few weeks ago. I was surprised by all the smoking in the movie but especially by the cob smoking 12 year old kid.

Helen Westley in a 1936 film called Banjo on my Knee, smoked a cob that looked like the ones Doug made for me. She played an old grandmother in a rocking chair who was laughing heartily at everything.

Been a few months since I've seen it (mini series, not movie) but Chesty Puller smokes a pipe in The Pacific, I know he smokes a briar but I have a feeling there is a scene or two of him with a cob

I have never seen a Ruth Gordon film in which she was smoking a cob, but she would have made a great scene of it. Especially as Philo Beddoe's mother. Then Clyde the orang could have given it a try. Sadly, Clyde was found quite mistreated later in his life. Shabby treatment for the best co star Eastwood ever had.
