I picked up what I believe to be a pretty nice pipe this past weekend at an antique shop. It's a Comoy's Sandblast Canadian with "434" marked on the underside as well as "Made in London England" It appears to be unsmoked. The inlaid "C" is in 3 parts. Other than that, I can't find any further info about the 400 series. Poking around online the closest I can find is this "Christmas pipe". I'll take a pic this evening and post it later. Oh yeah, got it for $11.50!! :coffee:

small comoy billiard? you don't say. send it to me and i'll date it for ya.

the three piece "c" in a circle on the stem means its pre-cadogan iirc, which means its probably a slightly better smoker (the cadogan era ones aren't bad though) so its at least pre-1970, dunno how far back the shape goes though. that shape chart someone linked is pretty useful for identifying stuff, unfortunately you can't figure out if/when they STOPPED making them.

    now pictures... make it happen.

That could turn out to be a great smoker. The only problem that I ever had with Comoys was a lack of consistancy in the size of the airway. If you have good draw on this, it should be terrific.

So far, knock on wood, it seems like it's going to shape up quite nicely. It appears (to my novice eyes) to be perfectly drilled.
