Some are nearly half price... Like $40-60! They smoke great too!
Tsuges DO smoke great. I bought
one from SP and am pleased. If I
hadn't satiated my TAD recently,
I might have been inclined to
check those out. Thanks, for the
Of course the one I like best is $486.00. Go figure!
They are good! Picked up a blasted Pot. I'm happy!
The one I really want is ~$200, but I'd settle for one in the $54-60 range. Really I should buy nothing until I can get the $200 one instead of a few cheaper pipes.
If those smoke as good as they look then there are some real bargains up there...
How are those lower grade Tsuges? I didn't even know that they had a range of lower price pipes until smokingpipes started selling them a week or two ago, some of them look pretty sweet. Anyone who has one, are they drilled good?
Many are branded "E-Star" (Tsuge's seconds)....supposedly for Japanese market. SP did this two years ago and i scored several...gave away several too . They smoke great! The new nosewarmers (Mizki, Kaga, Tomato, etc.) are amazing little bowls and the price....well, get TWO!
I really, really like those bent pots and bent Dublins! I've also always wanted a Tsuge...
However, as things are at the moment, if I get enough money for a new pipe, I really would feel better about spending it on leaf instead....I don't have all the pipes I want, but I've got all I need. And while I have all the tobacco I need at the moment, I don't have all I need to get before it gets so expensive I can't afford to buy it anymore!
I feel your pain.....$864.00 for a sweet BentDublin
Thanks for the headsup!
They go FAST at the price SP has em on sale for. They are selling at msrp if you find them anywhere else.
Sweet indeed- that's a helluva block. I just can't see ever being able or inclined to spend that kind of money on a pipe, though.
Great catch, Puff. Poking around came across this interesting Tinsky as well... so tempting, but I'm in PAD lockdown for the time being
Had to snag a Tomato!
That is a sweet pipe too!
What does the e-star line mean? I see what smoking pipes says, that it was a native line not available outside of Japan but does it denote a quality grade as well? Ie, are those cool looking e-star tomatoes a lower grade material? They have lovely finishes. I'm only asking since I'm not too familiar with Tsuge's labeling but I do love the styles/shapes
If you look at the profiles on the E-Star pipes, you'll see a striking resemblance to their uppity priced Tsuges. Guess a carver has to dump the ones that'd require a fill or three, grain sort of ho-hum, defect ran deep enough to make the pipe proportionately smaller it can't be sold as top drawer Tsuges.
The blasted Mizki dublin and smooth tomato both smoke superb! They are about a 1.5-2 Dunhill sizing....so these are perfect for the short smoke. I really like mine.
