Just tried my first bowl of "DAN" Independence and wow, talk about strong. With the first smell (and light) this stuff gave me the first impression of a French whore wearing a cheap candy necklace!

It might be my Hillbilly palate's used to drug store blends but this **** seems STRONG! Right now I've got the tin open getting some air in hopes it'll calm down a bit so more later on how it goes.

I will say it seems to be a very clean smoke. Lots of fine white ash with no goo at the bottom. It seems to be a very coarse cut that's neither dry or wet.

It say's it's A blend of the finest grades of Virginias - Manufactured in Germany by Dan Tobacco.

I don't know what it's cased in but I swear it smells like a womans perfume.

Anybody else had this weed yet?

Yes, cheap ladies perfume says it all.
Smoked this (when it was CAO) for most
of ten years. I have about two bowls
left, which may rot away before I get
around to smoking it again. Over the
top casing makes it burn hot too.

On the bright side I guess it's not just me then. I just hope it mellows a bit. Maybe I can doctor it with something like PA/CH or the like. We'll see.

How the blender of Old Ironsides can also put this stuff out is mystifying.

How the blender of Blue Note ("...fresh flavor of exotic fruits and a touch of Bourbon Vanilla...") could ever dream bettering this I cannot guess. Not in my wildest dreams.

No offense meant to youse Blue Note lovers...

I'm gonna have to bury my cob in a pile of horse **** to get the smell out of it! I swear I went out with a "lady" that reeked of this back in my 20s.

What do these guys make that is decent? I'm finding more and more I'm not much for aromatics. Virginias and burleys are my speed...even if that's a slow speed.

    :D

jpberg had a nice reference above and Hamborger Veermaster is quite the fine smoke. Sadly for some these both lack fruity-tooty nutty tones topped off with Bourbon-vanilla. Whatever. You can't have everything.

Eh. Fruity tooty doesn't thrill me anyway. Just a good weed that can stand on it's own without "Essence of tramp" will be OK.

    Thanks Guys!

All this talk of cheap perfume makes me remember Arabian Nights. I don't think it's around anymore, and the world is a much better place for it.

Mike, thanks for taking one for the team! Your experience is my gain.

Try cutting it 50/50 with 5100. That seems to help with a lot of "over-the-top" blends..................
