Always wanted a Peterson System pipe, and hey you don't get much more "Peterson" than a 305 in the system style. Went to the B&M today and they (finally) had some in stock! This had a $120 sticker price, but it's smooth finished and an XL305, so I really didn't get ripped off. If I had bought it on Smokingpipes or something I'd only save 10 bucks plus whatever tax cost me, and hey, I got iteven quicker than overnight shipping!

This thing has a huge chamber, my wind cap won't even fit in it. Wasn't expecting that, but hey it's all good. Should offer me some great smokes!

Now to decide what to break her in with :puffy: (edit: first smoke is a half bowl of Old Joe Krantz)

Now, go for another eighty years enjoying it along the way. She's a beauty. Most certainly worth the money.

    Be well.
    Ol Brokedik.

    p.s. Merry Early Christmas.

    Thanks folks!

One thing I wasn't expecting: this pipe actually DOES gurgle, though only very, very slightly, and of course the stem never ever gets wet. It just gurgles slightly before the moisture reaches the well. But overall I'm very happy with it. It looks good, and despite being quite heavy it's well balanced and hangs very nicely. The bowl is, as I mentioned, fairly deep and very wide. Compared to, say, my Missouri Pride cob it's like comparing a 5X38 petite corona to a 6X52 belicoso. When I'm next situated so that I can have my own place to live, smoking indoors allowed, I see myself spending many happy hours slowly puffing on this one while watching movies, doing homework, whatever.

And it smokes down to the bottom no problem, and after only three partial bowls it's already forming a nice little bit of cake in the heel!

My guess is the gurgle will go away as the stain on the inside does. I usually clean the system well and draft with ever clear and a bristle pipe cleaner for the first few smokes. After six or so it is usually just tar, no more red stain. And for me, no more gurgle.

Hm, I'll have to give that a try. I've got plenty of ISO on hand, and a shank brush. I'll give it a good scrub at the end of the day for the next few days.
