Went down to the parent's place today and found dad on the back carport sitting with mom, my brother and the dog.
After my kids gave him their cards and stuff, yeah it's grandfather's day, I got out the MM mini to pass time.
He asked if my tobacco had any bite. Middletons Cherry, he smelled it and walked in the house.
After a couple minutes he came out and gave me his old pipe to fill. He bought it in Pennsylvania at the Kutztown festival in the early 80's. Hasn't been smoked since the 90's.
Then he started talking about how he never smoked a cigarette in Germany while in the Army. American cigarettes cost 1.10$ a carton at the px and he sold them for 20 marks, equal to 5$. Said German tobacco was all but terrible. Thats how he kept beer and food money and saw alot of Germany in his time there. Smoked a leather wrapped old pipe with px tobacco cost 25 to 50 cents a bag. Reamed it with a pocketknife when it wouldn't draw anymore.
There was alot more but a picture is worth a thousand words......
