What a way to start, first bowl in a MM Washington, my cob of choice, to minimize relights pack your tobacco a little to the firmer side, it will burn slower and cooler with fewer relights, sip and savor, don't huff and puff. Congratulations! :gjob:

Learning how to properly pack was a pain in the ass for me to learn, too. I'm getting better at it though. It just takes practice.

Not tight, a little firmer each time you fill and pack your bowl until you find the right firmness of pack for you.

alright. i think this time i didnt pack it firmly enough at certain parts(i did the thirds method), because id get to a point where it would stay lit for like 5 minutes, then id get to points where it would stay lit for only a minute or so

First fill, light pack, second fill, a little firmer pack, third fill, firmer. You'll get the hang of it don't sweat it and even this varies with different cuts of tobacco.

I think your first time went well, you'll have this down in no time, you're doing everything right, you're taking your time and asking questions as you go, in a couple of weeks you'll be giving advice to newbies. ;) Have a good evening!

Wow a MM Washington and burley tobacco to start! What a great combination. How can you improve on that? Oh wait, I know, more burley and more cobs.
