Well, it's taken years to buy one,
but I just did it. My first Stanwell.
Had to throw in a few tins of OGS
to make the free shipping.
Ironically, the Stanwell is a Golden,
    which matches the toby perfectly.

    Here she be:

My dad bought me a Stanwell for Christmas. I've always overlooked them in favor of Savinelli's or hand mades (Cavicchi, old Dunhills, Mark Tinsky, Peter Heeschen,etc.). I probably never would have bought one myself.

Funny thing is, this Stanwell is now my favorite pipe. I smoke it almost daily, at least twice. It broke in like a dream and even though it's a bent, I've never had one gurgle out of it.

I'll definitely be buying another Stanwell in the future.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Congratulations on your first Stanwell. You'll be rewarded with a fine smoker, but beware you'll not stop at one.

A handsome classic but, unfortunately, Stanwells appear to have the potato chip problem. The darn things are well made, affordable, good looking, good smoking pipes and it's hard to have just one. You'll need a bigger pipe rack. :D

That's a fine looking pipe and I hope you enjoy it for many, many years! I'd often wondered about Stanwells and it's good to hear such glowing reports.

    Thanks for the comments, gents!
I realise it's not an Italian, but I'd
been wanting a Stanwell for about
as long as I've been smoking pipes.
    So, there it is.

    Cheers

I just put in the order for my 3rd Stanwell today ... an estate Featherweight 199 from smokingpipes.com. I love how lightweight they are.

I'm not a big fan of rustication usually because the intended workmanship often times gets drizzled out by some dark pine pitch looking finish.

BUT THIS I LIKE VERY MUCH. :goodjob:
