I will add--I have two small drug store pipes that were my Great Grandfathers. I also have several that were through my Grandfather, and Father. I do not smoke them often, but would never part with them due to sentimental reasons. I often look at them, and it may be getting about time to load one of the smaller ones up with some fine flake tobacco, and think on fond memories.
I received 3 of my father’s pipes. I passed two on to his grandsons who never had the chance to meet him, but both enjoy smoking pipes. One, a Longchamps, I kept for myself to enjoy a special moment in time with my father that I was too young to have had when he was alive. I did not restore it. I cleaned it up and smoke it. Just me and Dad enjoying a smoke together.
