    Hi Guys,

Here is my latest auction win. This is a Jean Lacroix with the name Paris. The sellers misread the name and called it Feaulacroix making it hard to identify the brand. The ring is made of ivory. Only $16.00 including shipping. If I ever have to wear a tux again, this will be the pipe that burns a hole in the pocket.

Elephant ivory? I don't think that's legal. Is this a vintage pipe or is the ring made from an old piano key? It's a nice looking pipe but I would verify what that accent ring is really made of. The ivory trade has been shut down for about twenty years if I recall correctly though I admit I haven't really been keeping track.

While researching this pipe, I ran across an article written in 1983 which went into detail on this maker. It stated that Lacroix was using semiprecious materials for the rings on some of their upper level lines which makes me think that this pipe is one of those. I think Ivory was still legally traded back then. The ring itself is marked "ivoire" but if it is not ivory I like it just the same. Anyway, thanks for the advice.

I love smooth, black pipes. That is a perfect "High Society" pipe. Nice find! Phil.
