A long-awaited (one week, remember I'm new to this and still excited) tobacco shipment arrived last night. I decided that fine straight Virginias especially deserved a slow, well-paced, contemplative smoke, so last night I loaded up my big new Pete Darwin with its large bowl for the very first time - with Dunhill Flake. I enjoyed the flavor very much. I did, however, overpack the bowl, so I had some technical difficulties. A less-dense packing this evening rewarded me with the same fine flavor and fewer interruptions to the smoke. Today, during the day, I filled my MM 5th Ave with Kendal Kentucky. Very different experience - the very fine cut made the tobacco burn quickly, so that told me to sip especially easy. But I didn't overpack, and the smoke went nicely. The flavor was excellent. Is this what is called a "shag" cut?
