Good evening everyone!!! Well, in speaking with many of you throughout the forum on several different topics, and several of you are familiar with my Dad's pipes that I've been selling I had a conversation with John (Coastie3202) about pipes in Dad's collection that could use some sprucing up. Not all of Dad's pipes were pristine, some had minor to several dinks, dunks and scars. In speaking with John he offered to spruce up any pipe I thought needed it and I thought we would start with a Mayfair pipe that did have dinks on the rim, scarring and such on the outside of the bowl but the pipe was sound and had many years of good usage ahead of it. I sent the pipe to John and in lightening speed he turned it around and I received it back today. I love, love, LOVE IT!!! Most of you know I love things that are out of the ordinary and have some character and pazaz! That is exactly what I got....BRAVO John!!!! I dug up some more that I'll be sending you....we'll work out a tobacco or pipe trade or something...you are the best to do this for me and this first pipe will stay in the Summers collection and be handed down to the generation to follow me!!!

Here is what the pipe looked like....

Now, here is my unique, full of character reborn pipe....

Nice rustication, Coastie! Especially like the way the rim turned out. It's cool you're keeping the first one for your own collection, Kristina. :thu:

Outstanding work. The wonderful thing a beloved briar is how it can provide so much enjoyment to so many generations of pipe smokers.

This really is nice! I'm anxiously waiting on a pipe from Coastie3202. I've heard and seen nothing but great things about him and his work.

Very nice! Yeah Kristina, that there is a keeper! Love the rustication on the rim. There is an old carpenter's saying....if you can't hide it, flaunt it! Good cover-up John......

Very unique rustication. I would definitely keep that one around if I were you. Nice work, Coastie.
